After chatting with Today show co-hosts Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie on the live red-carpet preshow, Carrey said, "Can I ask you a question, guys?"

Lauer tried to move on by saying, "Look at the time."

Williams was suspended by NBC News on Tuesday for six months after it emerged that he told a false account about a 2003 incident in Iraq.

Although he claimed the Chinook helicopter that he was riding in was hit by enemy fire, it emerged that he was in a helicopter that was an hour behind the one that got hit. The scandal has been fodder for comedians, and Jerry Seinfeld later alluded to Williams' mistruths during the anniversary special, joking that he heard Williams was part of SNL's original cast in 1975.
