'Bunheads' Sutton Foster to Star in TV Land's Darren Star Pilot (Exclusive)
She'll play a suddenly single woman who lies about her age in a bid to restart her career in "Younger."
Bunheads star Sutton Foster has found her next small-screen gig.
The actress has been tapped to star in TV Land's Darren Star pilot Younger, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Based on the novel of the same name by Pamela Redmond Satran, Younger tells the story of a suddenly single New Jersey housewife and mother in her early 40s who, unable to restart her career, decides to lie about her age and successfully passes herself off as a 20-something. Armed with a makeover and new résumé, she wins a position at the city's hottest publishing company.
Sex and the City creator Star will pen the pilot script and executive produce the single-camera comedy.
For Foster, Younger comes five months after ABC Family opted to cancel hourlong ballet drama Bunheads after only one season. The critical darling from Gilmore Girls' Amy Sherman-Palladino starred Foster as a Las Vegas showgirl who gets married on a whim and winds up teaching alongside her new mother-in-law at a ballet school.
Foster earned Teen Choice Award and Television Critics Award nominations for the role and took home the Gracie Allen Award for her breakthrough role.
The Broadway alum (Grease, Annie, Les Miserables) next has features Gravy, The Nobodies and The Angriest Man in Brooklyn in the works and will return to Broadway for Violet next spring. She's repped by CAA.
