Cable Notes: VH1 Orders 'Mob Wives' Spinoff, TLC Adds Airline Reality Series
VH1 and TLC have added a pair of reality series to their slates.
With Mob Wives set to launch its second season on Jan. 1 at 8 p.m., VH1 has ordered Mob Wives: Chicago, a spinoff introducing a new group of women off Mob Wives with a 10-episode Chicago-based series set to bow in the spring.
“Our viewers connected so strongly with our New York cast that we were skeptical about trying to repeat that success," said VH1's exec vp original programming and production Jeff Olde. “But once we met these ladies from Chicago and heard their truly unbelievable stories, we knew that viewers would become just as captivated as we did. These women’s life experiences may be far different from our own, but their current struggles to stand on their own two feet are relatable to everyone.”

Like Mob Wives, the spinoff hails from the Weinstein Co., Electus, Left/Right, JustJenn Productions and VH1. Casting for the series is under way.
Meanwhile, TLC has ordered 13 half-hour episodes of a reality series revolving around Southwest Airlines. The project, which aims to take viewers behind the scenes of the modern air travel experience, also feature travelers as they prepare for milestone moments.
“Air travel has become incredibly accessible, and as a result, millions of travelers navigate the challenges of the airport, especially during the upcoming holiday season,” TLC GM Amy Winter said. “Southwest is a beloved brand, and their customers and employees will reveal the passion, commitment, and fantastic payoff of 'getting there' that helps keep us all flying.”
