Cable Ratings: Arm Wrestling Works for AMC, BET's 'Mary Jane' Wraps Strong Freshman Run
"Game of Arms" ranks as the network's top unscripted launch to date (for a weeknight), while the Gabrielle Union drama earns a renewal and averages 3.2 million viewers in its finale.
Tuesday night brought some comings and goings to cable. AMC launched its new reality arms, Game of Arms, while BET closed the first season of Gabrielle Union starrer Being Mary Jane by renewing it for a second season.
Game of Arms proved to be AMC's biggest unscripted premiere to-date, excluding its weekend offerings like Comic Book Men and Talking Dead. The arm-wrestling reality show averaged 1 million viewers and 626,000 adults 18-49.
Over on BET, Being Mary Jane capped off its first season with back-to-back episodes. At 9 p.m., the drama took 2.6 million viewers and 1.6 million adults 18-49. The finale followed at 10 p.m. with 3.2 million viewers -- 2.2 million of them in the key demo.
The finale is a 200,000 improvement from the series premiere in January, though it was down a tick in overall viewers.
