CBS Orders Pilot for Ryan Seacrest-Produced 'Draw Something' Game Show
The project hails from Sony Pictures Television and Embassy Row, with Michael Davies on board as an executive producer.
More than 20 years after it aired Win, Lose or Draw, CBS is going back to the format, giving a pilot orders to a Ryan Seacrest-produced take on mobile game Draw Something.
From Sony Pictures Television, Ryan Seacrest Productions and Embassy Row, the project is based on the popular mobile game that will see celebrities and everyday users playing in front of a live audience to earn cash prizes. The pilot also includes an option for viewers to play along at home for prizes.
Based on the hot mobile and tablet game from Zynga, Seacrest, Michael Davies (The Glee Project) and Ryan Seacrest Productions' CEO Adam Sher are on board to executive produce the pilot, which landed at CBS after a multiple-network bidding war, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
STORY: Zynga Buying OMGPOP, 'Draw Something' Creator, for Reported $200 Million
The game, which is available for mobile and tablet play, sees users compete against one another in a bid to earn points. The format is similar to Pictionary and Win, Lose or Draw, which saw stars compete in teams using markers and paper.
A host for the pilot has not yet been determined, and Seacrest is not expected to have an on-air presence.
The project marks the latest unscripted pilot order for Embassy Row and Sony at CBS, with Davies and Mark Burnett Productions at work on dream-job competition entry The Job.
Friday's pilot order comes three months after Farmville creator Zynga bought OMGPOP, the company behind Draw Something, for a reported $200 million.
In its first six weeks, Draw Something amassed 35 million downloads.
