CBS Readying CIA Drama Inspired By Lives of 'Mythbusters' Duo (Exclusive)

Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage are expanding to scripted fare.

The Mythbusters co-hosts/exec producers have set up a drama inspired by their real-life experiences at CBS, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

The untitled drama, which has received a script commitment from the network, revolves around two Hollywood special effects artists who are recruited by the CIA to complete seemingly impossible covert ops missions by creatively using the most basic tools from their craft.

Savage and Hyneman will executive produce the CBS Television Studios drama alongside Gail Berman and her Jackal Group and MGM Television. Sisters and writing duo Lilla and Nora Zuckerman (Suits, Haven, Human Target, Fringe) will pen the script as well as serve as exec producers.

Hyneman is a special effects expert with a degree in Russian linguistics who has worked as a certified dive master, wilderness survival expert, boat captain, linguist, animal wrangler and chef.
Savage, an industrial design and special effects designer/fabricator who has also worked as an animator, graphic designer, carpenter, projectionist, toy designer and more. He has also taught courses on advanced model making at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.



Both Hyneman and Savage have been with Discovery's Mythbusters for all 14 seasons. The series has collected multiple outstanding reality program Emmy nominations during its run.

For MGM Television, the untitled drama comes as the company continues to expand on the small screen with series including MTV's Teen Wolf, History's Vikings and FX's Fargo.

Hyneman, Savage and Berman are repped by WME; the Zuckermans are with Lichter Grossman.
