Cedric the Entertainer to Host Soul Train Awards
Cedric the Entertainer has been tapped to host the third annual Soul Train Awards.
Set for to be simulcast on both Centric and BET on Sunday, Nov. 27, the third annual awards show will celebrate the 40th anniversary of Soul Train with honors going to Earth, Wind, and Fire and Gladys Knight.
“We are thrilled to have an opportunity to partner with BET/Centric again to produce another Soul Train Awards presentation,” Soul Train CEO Kenard Gibbs said. “These annual awards allow us to celebrate the legacy of the Soul Train brand by showcasing amazing new talent that has been influenced by the music icons who have contributed to the success of the Soul Train series.”
Cedric the Entertainer will host the event, which is being filmed at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta on Thursday, Nov. 17, and produced by BET Event Productions and SUnseeker Media.
“We are honored to be celebrating 40 years of Soul Train by bringing the Soul Train Awards back to Centric,” Centric GM and executive vp Paxton Baker said. "The Soul Train brand has played a fundamental role in shaping American culture. With such a dynamic host and illustrious legends, I am confident that this year’s show will be the best yet.”
Cedric the Entertainer’s credits include Barbershop, Be Cool and Larry Crowne.
