'The Chew' Co-host Daphne Oz Exits After 6 Seasons
There's a change at The Chew.
Co-host Daphne Oz is leaving the ABC daytime talk show after six seasons, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
The departure comes two months after she announced she is expecting her third child this winter.
"It has been so much fun having lunch with you on TV’s most delicious daytime show for the past six seasons, and I am immensely grateful to have found dear friends in my co-hosts and our team," she said in a statement. "I have had the great privilege of growing up at our family table, and have shared some huge milestones along the way - including the birth of my first two children, and recent announcement of a third on the way! - and am lucky to have had The Chew as a bright beginning to my career."
Oz will not be replaced for the upcoming seventh season, which kicks off Sept. 5. The Chew's on-air team, which also includes Carla Hall, Mario Batali, Michael Symon and Clinton Kelly, has been intact since the program launched in 2011. The group won the Daytime Emmy Award for outstanding informative talk show host in 2015.
"She is one of the greatest natural broadcasters I have ever worked with. The moment she sat at the table with Mario, Clinton, Michael and Carla, I knew we had a great television show," said series creator and executive producer Gordon Elliott. "Her chemistry, honesty and intelligence are her trademarks, and they will stand with her wherever she goes."
The Chew was Oz's first TV gig. Her father, Dr. Mehmet Oz, is the host and exec producer of the long-running syndicated daytime series The Dr. Oz Show. She also serves as a judge and mentor on Food Network's Beat Bobby Flay. She is also the author of several books, including The Dorm Room Diet and Relish: An Adventure in Food, Style, and Everyday Fun.
"When Daphne started with us, she had recently graduated college, was a new bride and ready to take on the world," said ABC owned television stations group president Rebecca Campbell. "She is now a mother, broadcaster, writer and inspiration to millions of viewers whom she has shown how to create healthier eating options for themselves and their families. She really has created a unique brand for herself and the network."
