Chick-fil-A Comedy: 'Conan' and John Goodman Roast Chicken Chain (Videos)
As the fast food restaurant becomes the center of tug-of-war over gay rights, late night shows and web videos are having fun with the controversy, too.
Without taking away from the seriousness of the fight for civil rights, there is something inherently absurd about its current battleground being a regional chicken sandwich chain. This has not been lost on comedy writers.
On Wednesday night, Chaz the Intolerant Chicken -- a playful, pun-filled and hateful spin on the Jim Henson puppets that were pulled from the restaurant -- made his third appearance on Conan, offering "mouth watering hunks of meat" and yogurt parfaits.
Meanwhile, John Goodman and Funny or Die teamed up to provide a new rival to Chaz and his ilk: the gay-loving Colonel Sanders from KFC. Check out the video below the Conan spot.
The stakes were raised even higher in the Chick-fil-A gay marriage spat on Wednesday, as conservatives heeded the call of former politicians such as Mike Huckabee, Rick Santorum, and Sarah Palin to celebrate Chick-fil-A Apprecation Day.
