'Childrens Hospital' Renewed for Sixth Season at Adult Swim (Exclusive)
The Emmy-winning live-action comedy, originally a web series, resumes filming in the summer for a 2015 return to the cable network.
Adult Swim is checking back in to Childrens Hospital. The net's Emmy-winning comedy has been picked up for a sixth season.
Childrens Hospital will take a longer break than usual and return to air in 2015. Filming on the season is set to take place this summer in Los Angeles.
"We're placing the Childrens gang safely back in their hospital next season, having spent last season in Japan, so fans can expect the kind of tomfoolery that endeared them to Childrens Hospital back when they were youngsters,” said creator and star Rob Corddry. “Stuff like absurdity, flights of fancy, hard-hitting fake drama, soft-hitting fake drama, farcical door slamming, partial nudity, classical jazz, 70-yard field goals, mustache rides, backwards messages, grooming tips … the whole shebang.”
Finding time to film Childrens Hospital — which started out as a web series for TheWB.com in 2008 — is often tricky given that so much of the cast moonlights on the show between other projects. No cast has been confirmed, but Corddry has historically been joined by Rob Huebel, Ken Marino, Megan Mullally, Michael Cera, Lake Bell, Erinn Hayes, Henry Winkler and Malin Akerman in the regular rotating group.
The series, produced by Abominable Pictures, The Corddry Company and Warner Bros. TV, has nabbed two consecutive Emmys for Outstanding Special Class Short-Format Live-Action Entertainment Program.
Corddry is again joined by David Wain and Jonathan Stern as executive producers and writers.
