'Chuck' Star Zachary Levi to Direct an Episode on Season 5

This will be the star's third time in the director's chair for the NBC series.

Zachary Levi has vowed to make the final season of his NBC series, Chuck, awesome. So, we’re not surprised he’s taking on that challenge head on by helming one of the upcoming season’s episodes.

An NBC spokesperson tells The Hollywood Reporter that Levi will direct Episode 5 in the new season. The episode features recurring guest star Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix), as well as a super secretive cameo from Community’s Danny Pudi. The episode will shoot next week.

The upcoming season finds Levi’s title character creating his own spy organization. Moss plays the head of their leading rival in the espionage-for-hire game, Gertrude Verbanski of Verbanski Corp. And things will get complicated when Chuck’s cohort, Casey (Adam Baldwin), catches her eye. And as for Pudi’s cameo? All bets are off. He’s capable of anything.

This will be Levi’s third time in the series director’s chair after helming an episode in both Season 3 and last year’s fourth season.

Season 5's guest stars also include Justin Hartley, Jeff Fahey, Craig Kilborn, and Mark Hamill.

Chuck launches its fifth and final season on Oct. 21.
