Cinemax Developing Crime Drama

Cinemax is continuing its push into original programming with a drama project from feature writers Andre Fabrizio and Jeremy Passmore.

Titled Sandbox, the project revolves around a group of Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans who return home to the Coachella Valley to find the town overrun by criminals. The group opts to clean up the community using the skills they learned in combat.

Fabrizio (The World After) and Passmore (Red Dawn) will pen the script with The Kennedys Steve Kronish attached as showrunner.

Executive producers include Fabrizio, Passmore, Kronish, Larry and Chuck Gordon.

STORY: HBO’s Cinemax Pushes Into Original Content

Sandbox comes as the pay cabler continues its push into original content for primetime. Cinemax premiered Strike Back, its first original series, this month to 567,000 viewers, its best performance in the Friday at 10 p.m. slot in six years.

The network also as a small-screen adaptation of The Transporter film franchise in development, as well as Banshee, a drama from True Blood creator Alan Ball.
