Comedian Will Greenberg to Co-Star in NBC Comedy, 'Joe, Joe and Jane'
"Chelsea's" Lauren Lapkus and comedian/actor Asif Ali round out the cast of the semi-autobiographical comedy from 20th TV.
NBC has found its fictional Joe Waxman.
FunnyOrDie.com and UCB comedian Will Greenberg has been tapped to co-star in the network's Joe, Joe and Jane comedy pilot, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
STORY: TV Pilots 2013: The Complete Guide
The multicamera project centers on Joe Waxman (Greenberg), a conflict-avoidant children's book author caught in an ongoing tug of war between two needy, flawed people: his wife Jane (Army Wives' Sally Pressman) and his co-author/best friend (666 Park Avenue's Dave Annable). It's not about a couple, it's about a "trouple."
The semi-autobiographical comedy hails from New Girl's Joe Port and Joe Wiseman, who will pen the pilot and executive produce the 20th Television entry.
Additionally, Are You There, Chelsea?'s Lauren Lapkus has been tapped to play Melissa, Jane's friend who via her repeated bad decisions, always winds up making everyone feel better about themselves. Comedian/actor Asif Ali will co-star as Matt Savage, Joe and Joe's "brother" of an agent. He's a former frat boy with a filthy mouth for whom the Joes are his second-most-important clients.

Greenberg, whose credits include episodes of The Office, Modern Family and Happy Endings, is repped by CAA and Mosaic. Lapkus (Orange is the New Black) is with CAA and Odenkirk Provissiero. Ali (Modern Family, Up All Night) is with David Shapira & Associates, Aligned Entertainment and Stone Meyer.
The castings complete the series regular roles on the pilot.
