Comedy Central Renews 'The Meltdown With Jonah and Kumail'

The stand-up series will return for a second season.

Stand-up fans, get excited.

Comedy Central has renewed Jonah Ray and Kumail Nanjiani’s series The Meltdown With Jonah and Kumail for an eight-episode second season.

"We are very pleased to be doing a second season of the show, if only to have another classic ‘Kent Alterman quote’ in a press release," said Ray Nanjiani and live show producer (and Nanjiani's wife) Emily V. Gordon.

"No comment," added Kent Alterman, the network's president of content development and original programming.

Based on the live show of the same name, the stand-up series is shot documentary style at the Nerdist Showroom in the back of Meltdown Comics, a comic book store in Los Angeles. Directed by Lance Bangs, the first season featured performances by comedy legends and up-and-comers, including Eric Andre, Maria Bamford, Jim Gaffigan, Chris Hardwick, Moshe Kasher, Tom Lennon, Garfunkel and Oates, Nick Offerman, Marc Maron and Weird Al Yankovic, among others.

The show is executive produced by Ray, Nanjiani, Gordon, and Red Hour’s Ben Stiller, Debbie Liebling, Stuart Cornfeld and Mike Rosenstein.
