'Community's' Yvette Nicole Brown on the Big Day: Malcolm-Jamal Warner's 'Got Moves'
When the NBC comedy returns Thursday, "The Cosby Show" star becomes the center of a big event with Shirley.
NBC’s Community fans have much to celebrate when it returns Thursday at 8 p.m. Guest star Malcolm-Jamal Warner is back as Shirley’s ex-husband Andre and there’s going to be a big event.
“There is something that happens involving dance,” teases Yvette Nicole Brown, who plays Shirley, before hitting the stage at PaleyFest recently. “Joshua Allen who won So You Think You Can Dance is one of the dancers, everyone should look for that. He’s in the back dancing with Malcolm. Malcolm’s got moves. Malcolm can dance.”
But, what would seem like a no-brainer for the couple doesn’t quite go down without a hitch. “There’s a lot of twists and turns in the first episode back, so I think people will like it,” Brown says.
Beyond this episode, Brown also says that we’ll get a bit more of the opposites attract scenario between her and Joel McHale’s character Jeff as the season progresses.
“There’s like three or four episodes total where I get to work with Joel,” she says. “That’s really great for me, because I haven’t been able to work with just him since the very first season. So after the foosball episode, the fan reaction was so great that they were like, ‘Maybe, these two together are kind of funny or interesting.’ Joel and I have had a ball. I think there’s three more to come of Shirley and Jeff kicking around Greendale, so it will be good.”
