Connie Britton Nabs Lead Role in Ryan Murphy Fox Drama '911'

Connie Britton is reuniting with Ryan Murphy again.

The Nashville and Friday Night Lights favorite has been cast in a leading role in Murphy's midseason Fox procedural 911.

Picked up straight to series in May, the procedural explores the high-pressure experiences of police, paramedics and firefighters who are thrust into the most frightening, shocking and heart-stopping situations. These emergency responders must try to balance saving those who are at their most vulnerable with solving the problems in their own lives. Character details about who Britton, Angela Bassett and Peter Krause will play are being kept under wraps. This is Britton's first series regular role since exiting Nashville following a five-season run.

The role reunites Britton with Murphy and 911 following their collaborations on the ground-breaking first season of FX anthology American Horror Story as well as The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story. Asked in February when she exited ABC-turned-CMT's Nashville if she would ever reunite with frequent collaborator Murphy, Britton told The Hollywood Reporter: "I'll always go back and work with Ryan. I would love to do that at some point, if the right thing comes up for him." Her credits also include Spin City, 24 and The West Wing. She next has a sizable role on Showtime's forthcoming comedy SMILF. Britton is repped by WME, Untitled and Hansen Jacobson.

The 13-episode season of 911 is slated to air midseason. A formal premiere date has not yet been determined. Glee co-creators Murphy and Brad Falchuk will executive produce via their respective 20th Century Fox Television-based production companies. Tim Minear co-created the drama and serves as showrunner. The series continues Murphy and Falchuk's relationship with Fox after their two-season anthology Scream Queens came to an end. The project marks the latest collaboration for Murphy and Falchuk at Fox, where they produced musical phenomenon Glee. The frequent collaborators are also working on new seasons of FX anthologies American Horror Story and American Crime Story and have ongoing drama series Pose in the works for the cabler.
