Constance Zimmer Books Arc on NBC's 'Growing Up Fisher' (Exclusive)
The "House of Cards" and "Newsroom" alum also will guest star in USA Network's Matt Nix pilot "Complications."
Constance Zimmer is filling up her schedule.
The busy actress has booked a recurring role on NBC's midseason comedy Growing Up Fisher and joined USA Network's Matt Nix pilot Complications, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
On Fisher, the DJ Nash comedy about a son who idolizes his blind father, Mel (J.K. Simmons), and is bemused by his mother’s (Jenna Elfman) newfound adolescence, Zimmer will play Allison, a confident, funny single mom who lives across the hall from Mel. Sparks will fly between the duo and their story will unfold in later episodes.
On Complications, the story of disillusioned suburban ER doc John Ellis (Jason O'Mara), whose life changes after he's involved in a gang shooting and is forced to explore how active a doctor can be in treating the cause of his patients' medical problems, Zimmer will portray Dr. Laster, a psychiatrist assigned to a patient that has attacked the ER staff. Zimmer will guest star in the pilot and have a recurring role if the drama earns a series order. The casting marks a reunion for Zimmer with her former In Justice (ABC) co-star, O'Mara.
In addition to Newsroom and House of Cards, Zimmer most recently had a multiple-episode arc on ABC's Grey's Anatomy and guest starred on NBC's short-lived The New Normal. She's repped by UTA and Sweeney Entertainment.
A formal premiere date for Fisher has not yet been announced.
