'Covert Affairs' Recruits 'The Shield' Star for Season 5 (Exclusive)
Covert Affairs is bringing in a new officer.
The Shield alum and Bates Motel regular Kenny Johnson has joined USA Network's espionage drama in a season five recurring role, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Johnson will play a former CIA paramilitary operative who is compassionate and has an excellent track record and strong moral center. He is the type of guy who tackles any challenges thrown his way. Johnson's arc begins in the second half of the season, which returns this fall.
He joins recurring guest stars Shawn Doyle, Max Martini, Perrey Reeves, Nazneen Contractor, Amy Jo Johnson and Michael A. Goorjian. Piper Perabo, Christopher Gorham, Hill Harper, Kari Matchett, Peter Gallagher and new regular Nicholas Bishop lead the cast.
In the upcoming summer finale, "Sensitive Euro Man," Annie Walker (Perabo) helps McQuaid (Bishop) accomplish a mission against Auggie's (Gorham) wishes. Meanwhile, as a threat on U.S. soil appears imminent, Hayley (Johnson) becomes more relentless for the truth.
Johnson, best known for his run on The Shield as Detective Curtis "Lemonhead" Lemansky, is repped by Innovative Artists and LINK Entertainment. Other TV credits include Saving Grace, Chicago Fire, Burn Notice, Prime Suspect, Dexter and Sons of Anarchy.
Covert Affairs wraps the first half of its season Aug. 26 on USA Network.
