New CW Reality Series 'The Catalina' and 'Breaking Pointe' Get May Debuts
The network announces its premiere dates for the nonfiction shows documenting the lives of young people at work and play.
The CW will unveil its new reality series The Catalina at 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, and Breaking Pointe at 8 p.m. Thursday, May 31.
The Catalina follows the young staff of the hotel of the same name in Miami's South Beach as they work during the day and party all night. Bischoff Hervey Entertainment produces the series with executive producers Eric Bischoff and Jason Hervey, who are behind Impact Wrestling and Confessions of a Teen Idol.
Breaking Pointe goes behind the scenes with Salt Lake City ballet company Ballet West to document the competitive dog-eat-dog world behind the graceful dance. BBC Worldwide Productions produces the series with executive producers Kate Shepherd (Big Brother, Wife Swap), Izzie Pick Ashcroft (Dancing With the Stars) and Jane Tranter (Top Gear, Dancing With the Stars, Torchwood).
The network plans to reveal the premiere dates for two previously announced reality series, the musical chairs game show Oh Sit! and the musical competition The Star Next Door, at a later date.
This season, The CW has been expanding its reality offerings with new model scout series Remodeled and the now-canceled Mario Lopez-hosted H8R, which placed celebrities face-to-face with their biggest critics.
The long-running Tyra Banks reality series America's Next Top Model was renewed for a 19th cycle in late-February. The franchise, which dates to the former UPN network, ranks among The CW's highest-rated properties. Last year's edition averaged a 1.7 rating among the advertiser-coveted adults 18-49 demographic.
