The youth-skewing network is adapting Peter Morgan's U.K. miniseries Metropolis, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Created by Peter Morgan (Frost/Nixon), the eight-part series premiered in 2000 and aired on Granada TV. The series revolves around a group of friends and recent college graduates as they made their way in the real world and starred James Purefoy, Louise Lombard, Matthew Rhys, Flora Montgomery and Kris Marshall.

The CW's take revolves around a group of friends struggling with their adult lives not living up to the expectations they had when they were idealistic college friends.

STORY: CW Redeveloping 'Confessions of a Backup Dancer'

Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas will pen the script and executive produce via his Rob Thomas Productions shingle, alongside Littlefield Co.'s Warren Littlefield and ITV Studios America president and CEO Paul Buccieri in association with Warner Bros. Television.

The project continues Thomas' relationship with the network, where he oversaw the development of the rebooted 90210, which is now in its fifth season.

Thomas, whose credits also include cult hit Party Down and Cupid, is repped by UTA.

For the CW, the drama joins Confessions of a Backup Dancer, Wonder Woman prequel Amazon, a Great Expectations reboot and a contemporary Alice in Wonderland effort in addition to several supernatural-themed hours in the works this development season.
