Ricki Lake Steps Back for Derek and Julianne Hough's 'Dancing With the Stars' Reunion
Coming off the season's highest score, the Season 13 front-runner says she's looking forward to being in the audience.
It was a week of dramatic highs and lows for former talk show host Ricki Lake.
Before scoring the first 10s of Season 13, earning a near-perfect score of 29, the Dancing With the Stars competitor thought about turning in her dance shoes.
"It was a really hard week, as you saw," Lake told press, including The Hollywood Reporter, backstage after her week 4 performance. "I feel like an idiot saying I'd quit it. But it did happen. I did feel that way at that time."
If Lake had any remaining apprehensions during her tango to Bernard Herrmann's Psycho theme, they didn't show. The judges gave her their highest praise of the night. Even Cher, in the audience to support son Chaz Bono, appeared won over when Lake and partner Derek Hough took the floor.
"Cher is in the audience, and that's great, but, you know what? I'm really looking forward to seeing them dance [Tuesday]," Lake says, referring to Hough and his sister Julianne.
The 23-year-old Footloose star, who got her start on Dancing With the Stars, returns to the series for the Oct. 11 results show to promote her film. She'll also tackle a reunion jive with her old brother.
"I don't know what the dance looks like, because we haven't done it yet," Derek told THR with less than 24 hours to go until the performance. "We're going to choreograph it right now."
He guesses its been somewhere between two and a half and three years since he last danced with his sister, who's recently focused more on her recording and acting career, but he says she's still up to the challenge.
"It's a bit crazy," he says. "We were trying a little bit other day for about a half-hour, and we were like, 'Whoa, we are rusty.' [But] we're on the same page. And she's fearless."
As for his current partner, Hough probably doesn't have to seriously worry about Lake's threats to quit.
