'Desperate Housewives' Cast Gift to Crew Sheds Further Light on Teri Hatcher's Estrangement (Photo)
Another sign of the separation between the long-running ABC series' stars emerges.
Reports of the chasm between Desperate Housewives star Teri Hatcher and her castmates Felicity Huffman, Eva Longoria, Marcia Cross, and most recently, Vanessa Williams have become an inextricable part of the long-running series’ final seasons. Perhaps even cattier than the show's fictional storylines and feuds.
As the two-hour finale approaches, fans have noticed Hatcher has made herself scarce at both the show’s production wrap party and the more public one held at Hollywood’s W Hotel last week.

Celebuzz recently got a hold of a card attached to a parting gift for the crew, from the series’ stars – minus Hatcher. Attached to Soren carry-on luggage, the card read, “Just know that on all your future adventures you are carrying a little piece of our love and gratitude. Thank you for a magical 8 years. Love, Eva, Marcia, Felicity and Vanessa.”
“The girls don’t get along with Teri so they organized this and left her out,” a production source tells the site.
Speculation as to the cause of Hatcher’s increasing distance from her castmates have included bitterness over having her original star status on the show diminish in the spotlight on its other stars – most notably Longoria, fallout from the producers’ admission during the Nicollette Sheridan case that they considered writing Hatcher out of season five and the stars’ most recent contract negotiations in which Hatcher reportedly made her own agreement in advance and separately from the other women effectively limiting their ability to negotiate as a group.

Hatcher gestured toward the strained relationships with the other women in an email to TV Guide Magazine.
"I will never disclose the true and complicated journey of us all, but I wish everyone on this show well,” she writes. “Marc created out of thin air a majestic street called Wisteria Lane with its picket fences, its flowers always in bloom... and four really complimentary characters: a selfish girl, a harried woman, a repressed control freak and a soul-searching, well-meaning fumbler. Those four characters and the actresses who played them seemed to meld together in a way that harkens the phrase 'once in a lifetime.’ ”
Hatcher's rep didn't immediately respond to THR's request for comment.
