In the final moments of last season's finale, Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) surprised Dexter (Michael C. Hall) when she walked in to a crime scene just in time to see her adopted brother's Dark Passenger plunging a sword into his latest victim.

In the new teaser -- intercut with stunning visuals of both Dexter and a shocked Deb -- the killer with a code philosophizes that "truth brings light," and that everything in his life has brought him to where he is now: "It's what I am, it's all I am. I can accept that … but can she?"

Not to be outdone, the dialogue in the background offers Deb's potential first reaction to what she's witnesses: "Get away from the body … Jesus Dexter," she says off-screen.
