The five-part unscripted series will revolve around former British Special Forces soldier Gary Humphrey and Southern California-based car fanatic/problem solver Bill Wu as they attempt to survive -- and escape -- remote locations in Chile using only their skills and a car, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively.

STORY: Discovery Networks Internationals Greenlights Two Lifestyle Shows

Using a four-wheel drive vehicle that has been flown in and dropped into locations where no car has gone before, the duo will navigate Chile's seven major climatic subtypes, including desert, alpine tundra, humid subtropical, oceanic and Mediterranean over the course of three days using survival techniques and mechanical tricks. The guys will be given a tracker to find the car and with no real supplies, be tasked with creating hunting weapons and repairing the vehicle -- including using only an egg to seal a crack in the radiator. Each episode will end with a do-or-die challenge with the end goal to be to rescue the car.

One Car Too Far, which will premiere Aug. 19 at 9 p.m., hails from Discovery Networks International and marks the cable network's first co-produced series with its foreign arm. David Pritikin (Deadliest Catch) will exec produce for Discovery, while Sarah T. Davies will oversee for Discovery Networks International; Sarah Swingler and Sanjay Singhal will exec produce for Dragonfly.

The series comes mere days after Discovery announced Bering Sea Gold: Under the Ice, from the creators of Deadliest Catch that will see miners journey four feet below solid ice on the Bering Sea floor in search of their prize. The five-part entry will premiere Aug. 24 at 9 p.m. Original Productions' Thom Beers, Philip D. Segal, Jeff Conroy, John Gray, Sheila McCormack and Cameron Glendenning will oversee, while Pritikin and Tara Hunter will exec produce for Discovery.

Both series join a roster of similarly themed programs including American Chopper, Bering Sea Gold and Deadliest Catch.
