Disney XD Renews 'Kickin' It' for Third Season (Exclusive)
The martial arts-inspired show, one of the network's top-rated series, is scheduled to go back into production in January.
Disney XD has picked up a third season of its martial arts-inspired series Kickin' It.
Season three will follow the crew of lovable misfits at Bobby Wasabi Martial Arts Academy as they embark on new adventures outside the dojo. Production is scheduled to begin in Hollywood in January.
Kickin' It, created by Emmy-nominated Jim O'Doherty (Grounded for Life) and executive produced by J.J. Wall (Til Death) and O'Doherty, is one of the network's top-rated series. It stars Jason Earles, black-belt martial artist Leo Howard, Mateo Arias, Dylan Riley Snyder and Olivia Holt and is produced by It's A Laugh Productions Inc.
"Disney XD viewers have clearly connected with this series about friendship and martial arts," said Adam Bonnett, senior vp programming at Disney Channels Worldwide. "We look forward to telling more stories in season three where our characters use their martial arts knowledge and skills out in the world, taking their 'mojo' out of the dojo."
New episodes of Kickin' It air Monday nights on Disney XD. In a series of interstitials debuting Monday as part of a Nintendo Wii U sponsorship, the casts of Kickin' It and Disney Channel's Jessie will go head-to-head in a Wii U showdown every week during the Kickin' It telecast.
Disney XD targets kids ages 6-14, particularly boys, with a mix of live-action and animated programming. It is available in more than 78 million U.S. households.
