Wayward Pines is adding another big name for season two.

Djimon Hounsou has signed on for the Fox event series from M. Night Shyamalan, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

The two-time Oscar nominee will play CJ Mitchum, an original resident of Wayward Pines and a historian of the town with lots of knowledge of its complex origins. CJ is one of the few that can make the connection between the current version of the town and the previous version inhabited by humans.

Hounsou joins Jason Patric in the upcoming second season, which will pick up after the events of the season-one finale, with the residents of Wayward Pines battling against the iron-fisted rule of the First Generation.

Wayward Pines is set to return this summer with 10 episodes. However, series developer/creator Chad Hodge will not return as showrunner on the series based on Black Crouch's book. Mark Friedman (The Forgotten) will take over as showrunner and executive produce alongside Donald De Line (Green Lantern), Ashwin Rajan (Devil), Crouch and Shyamalan.

This is a rare TV turn for Hounsou, whose small-screen credits include Alias and ER. In addition to his Academy Award-nominated turns in Blood Diamond and In America, his other film credits include Furious 7 and Guardians of the Galaxy.
