NBC has solidified the premiere date for its midseason drama Do No Harm and set the end date for departing comedy 30 Rock.

Do No Harm will get the 10 p.m. Thursday slot, kicking off its season Jan. 31 following an hourlong series finale for the Tina Fey comedy.

“January 31 will be a special night as one classic series will mark its finale with a great hourlong sendoff episode while a promising new drama will make its debut,” said NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt.30 Rock is acclaimed as a legendary comedy, and we will see a truly memorable and fitting last episode. In Do No Harm, viewers will have a unique new dramatic storyline with an exciting new star in Steven Pasquale that takes them into dark and uncharted territory.”

As Do No Harm takes its Thursday time period, news program Rock Center With Brian Williams will move to 10 p.m. Fridays following Dateline beginning Feb. 8. The move makes sense in that networks often air newsmagazines such as 20/20 and Dateline and news specials on Fridays.

Sophomore drama Grimm will return to the schedule at 9 p.m. March 8.

NBC has been unsuccessful lately in launching a scripted drama in the 10 p.m. Thursday time period, with recent efforts The Firm and Prime Suspect lasting only a handful of episodes.

The network has yet to announce a premiere date for comedy Save Me.

Do No Harm centers on Dr. Jason Cole (Pasquale, Rescue Me), a highly respected neurosurgeon who has it all: a lucrative career, confident charm and the gift of compassion. But he also has a deep, dark secret. One morning when he wakes up disoriented in a wrecked hotel room amidst several near-naked women he's never seen before, he knows one thing: It's happening again. Every night at the same hour, something inside Jason changes, leaving him almost unrecognizable -- seductive, devious and borderline sociopathic.

Alana De La Garza, Michael Esper, Ruta Gedmintas and Phylicia Rashad co-star in the Universal TV/Traugott Co. production. David Schulner is executive producer and writer. Peter Traugott and Rachel Kaplan are also EPs, with Michael Mayer co-EP and director.
