A new 30-second TV trailer for the annual Doctor Who Christmas special has surfaced on the Internet.

The forthcoming hourlong special introduces the Doctor's (Matt Smith) new companion, played by Jenna-Louise Coleman.

In "The Snowmen," airing 9 p.m. Christmas Day on BBC America, the Doctor and his new companion embark on a mission to save Christmas from the villainous Doctor Simeon (Richard E. Grant) and his army of icy snowmen.

The promo offers a glimpse into the action-packed holiday-themed hour, including a intriguing encounter between the Doctor and his companion at the very end of the spot:
