Lifetime's 'Drop Dead Diva' Renewed for Sixth Season
The cable network has picked up 13 episodes to air in 2014.
Drop Dead Diva is coming back for another season.
Lifetime is bringing back the once-canceled drama for a 13-episode sixth season, it announced Friday afternoon. The new episodes will premiere in 2014.
Drop Dead Diva had been axed following its fourth season in January, but Lifetime reversed its decision several months later, resolving talks with studio Sony Pictures Television about cost-cutting efforts.
Drop Dead Diva centers on an aspiring model, Deborah "Deb" Dobkins, who was killed in a car crash and is brought back to life as lawyer Jane Bingum (Brooke Elliot). The current season, currently airing 9 p.m. Sundays, introduced a new guardian angel played by Justin Deeley.
Creator Josh Berman executive produces the series, with Craig Zadan, Neil Meron and Robert J. Wilson. Margaret Cho, Jackson Hurst, April Bowlby, Lex Medlin and Kate Levering co-star.
