Eddie Huang Rips 'Fresh Off the Boat' (Again): "I Don't Recognize My Own Life"

The inspiration behind the ABC comedy admits he doesn't watch his own show in a new Twitter rant.

Eddie Huang is at it again.

The outspoken inspiration behind ABC's freshman hit comedy Fresh Off the Boat has ripped the series based on his life in a new Twitter rant.

The comedy, based on Huang's memoir of the same name, details young Eddie's (played by Hudson Yang) move with his family from D.C. to Orlando and is the first Asian-American series on the broadcast networks in 20 years (since Margaret Cho's All American Girl).

"For the record I don't watch #FreshOffTheBoat on @ABCNetwork," Huang wrote, kicking off a series of posts in which he voiced his disdain for the critical darling starring Constance Wu and Randall Park.

"I'm happy people of color are able to see a reflection of themselves through #FreshOffTheBoat on @ABCNetwork but I don't recognize it," he added.

"My only goal was to represent my Taiwanese-Chinese-American experience & I did that. We also proved viewers want diverse content so make it!" he continued. "I had to say something because I stood by the pilot. After that it got so far from the truth that I don't recognize my own life. I don't think it is helping us to perpetuate an artificial representation of Asian American lives and we should address it. I'm sorry if anyone feels let down. I sincerely did my best and will keep doing. The matrix is strong but the Jedi will return... #BasedFOB"

The tweets come after Huang made waves for criticizing Fresh Off the Boat producers in a first-person essay in which he called the series a "cornstarch story."

In a February interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Huang graded the series a "B" and pushed for a domestic violence arc: "I feel like if we are going to talk about Asian families, it's something we should discuss and think about how we can address."

ABC and producers 20th Century Fox Television declined comment on Huang's latest remarks.
