El Rey Network Orders Barbershop Unscripted Series
"Cutting Crew," from Big Vida Entertainment and FactoryMade Ventures, will debut in the fall.
Robert Rodriguez's El Rey Network is set to explore the world of barbers.
The English-language network targeting Latinos has ordered unscripted series Cutting Crew, it announced on Wednesday.
Produced by Big Vida Entertainment and FactoryMade Ventures -- the latter of which is Rodriguez's partner in El Rey -- the series follows the "edgy artistry" of a team of barbers who have made a name for themselves with their unique cuts.
The eight-episode unscripted series will put the spotlight on the passionate team of award-winning barber Amit Corso, who opened his shop in 2005 outside of Philadelphia. The show will follow the so-called "Cutting Crew" both at the shop and between fades and shaves and outside of work.
The series is exec produced by Sergio Alfaro, Flavio Morales, John Ehrhard and FactoryMade Ventures and El Rey Network co-founders John Fogelman and Cristina Patwa.
Cutting Crew joins a roster of original programming, including scripted offerings From Dusk Till Dawn and the upcoming Matador as well as Mark Burnett's Lucha Libre (Mexican wrestling) programming, which is set to debut in the second half of 2014.
