Discovery's annual Shark Week talk show is getting a new host.

Writer/director/producer and shark enthusiast Eli Roth has been tapped to host Discovery's annual Shark After Dark, returning for its third year.

Roth (Inglourious Basterds, Hostel) will oversee the Shark Week tradition and host the late-night talk show. For five nights, Roth will look back at some of the highlights from Shark Week with celebrity guests, shark fans, experts and more while also previewing what to expect from the following day's programming.

"Being part of this is a dream come true for me as I've been a Shark Week fan for 20 years — it's my favorite television week of the year,” Roth said. “I am completely shark obsessed and cannot wait to dive in and help create the most exciting Shark Week in years. I had an amazing experience re-creating the Milgram experiments for Discovery, and I can’t wait to make the same type of waves on Shark Week.”

Shark Week will run July 5-9 and will feature what Discovery is touting as the most hours of shark programming in its 28-year history. Discovery will also feature for the first time a weekend of all-new Shark Week programming at the end of August for what it's dubbing the Summer of the Shark.
