Six months after launching TV division IDW Entertainment, comics publisher IDW has inked a first-look development and production deal with Entertainment One.
Under the pact, eOne and IDW Entertainment will co-develop, co-fund and co-produce TV series based on IDW's library of more than 300 original properties. eOne and IDW will fully fund development of each project with the goal of securing straight-to-series commitments for broadcast and cable networks.
IDW Publishing CEO Ted Adams and IDW Entertainment president David Ozer will exec produce all projects, with eOne CEO John Morayniss and eOne senior vp filmed entertainment Benedict Carver overseeing for the company.
Walking Dead producer Circle of Confusion will oversee the creative development and production on all the projects with Rick Jacobs and David Alpert serving as exec producers. IDW Entertainment and eOne will jointly represent U.S. network sales, with eOne overseeing international distribution -- as it does on AMC's The Walking Dead.
"eOne has a proven track record of developing, producing and distributing premier television programming, and they are the perfect co-development, production and distribution partner for IDW Entertainment as we grow our television business,” Ozer said. “We look forward to collaborating with eOne and Circle of Confusion to bring our properties to life and anticipate announcing very shortly our first project under the deal.”
Added Morayniss: “The IDW team brings with them not only an expansive catalog of captivating titles, but the creative sensibility and instinct for developing their properties into successful franchises. Working with Circle of Confusion further cements this collaborative powerhouse and we look forward to the impressive slate of projects to come.”
