Fantasy Drama From Steven Spielberg's Amblin Lands TNT Pilot Pickup
TNT is continuing to add to its pilot coffers, picking up its third drama this month.
The network has handed out a pilot order to Lumen, a fantasy drama from Steven Spielberg's Amblin Television, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Lumen centers on a famous author of a best-selling series of fantasy books who suddenly disappears and a family of four who are transported to the mystical alternate world that inspired her work. Once there, however, they are plunged into the middle of a war raging between rival magical forces of light and darkness. Facing peril at every turn, the family must unravel a complicated mystery and uncover some astonishing secrets as they struggle to find their way home.

Chris Black (Mad Men, Desperate Housewives) will pen the script for the drama and executive produce alongside Amblin's Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey, author James Frey (Endgame) and Todd Cohen (Ugly Betty) of Full Fathom Five as well as Joe Johnson (Captain America: The First Avenger, The Rocketeer) and Black, who also is on board Cinemax's Robert Kirkman adaptation Outcast. The drama hails from ABC Signature, ABC Studios' cable-focused boutique. Johnson will direct the pilot.
For Amblin, meanwhile, Lumen becomes the company's latest sale this season. The company also is teaming with Fox for a Minority Report revival and an adaptation of Mexican drama Nino Santo at A&E. Amblin currently has seven series on five different networks: ABC's midseason drama The Whispers, CBS' Under the Dome and Extant, FX's The Americans, TNT's Falling Skies and upcoming Public Morals as well as Fox's fall debut Red Band Society.
