'The Finder's' Geoff Stults to Star in Fox Comedy From 'Cougar Town' Creator
The actor, who recently signed a talent deal with studio 20th TV, will play a sergeant in the comedy that follows three very different brothers working together at a Florida Army base.
Geoff Stults is back at Fox.
Half a year after inking a talent-holding deal at studio cousin 20th Century Fox TV, The Finder star has landed a lead role in the network's comedy pilot Enlisted. The half-hour entry, which hails from Cougar Town co-creator Kevin Biegel, follows three very different brothers working together in the Army at a small base in northern Florida.
STORY: Geoff Stults, TV Veteran, Makes a Play for Leading Man With 'The Finder'
Stults is set to play Sergeant Pete Waits, a 29-year-old who is billed as a loyal, proud, funny natural leader who's not unlike a kid playing grown-up. Having been sent back to the U.S. after decking a superior officer in Afghanistan, Waits is reassigned to the base in Florida, where he’s tasked with leading the notoriously slacker-like Rear Detachment (soldiers whose days consist of washing tanks and getting high).
In announcing the talent deal in September, 20th TV’s executive vp casting and talent Sharon Klein said of the actor, whose other credits include October Road and Happy Town: "Geoff is a tall hunk of man who makes me laugh. He's the ultimate 'man's man' and 'ladies man.' Everyone wants to be at a Geoff Stults party. He's a big TV star who proved he can anchor a show with his dry wit on The Finder."
The actor joins previously cast Keith David in the 20th Century Fox TV single-camera effort, for which Men of a Certain Age's Mike Royce is attached as an executive producer. Stults, who booked an arc on Fox's since-canceled Ben and Kate as part of his holding deal, is repped by UTA and Thruline.
