First Look At 'Glee Project' Contestants In Action (VIDEO)
Oxygen releases a music video of the 12 finalists competing for a guest spot on "Glee" singing Katy Perry's "Firework"
Oxygen's The Glee Project has released a video giving us our first look at the 12 finalists who will compete for a guest spot on Fox's Glee. The cast belts out Katy Perry’s “Firework,” Glee style. According to the show’s official website, the finalist were whittled down from 40,000 hopefuls.
Glee cast members will rotate in and out to interact with and coach contestants. Darren Criss, who plays Blaine Anderson on Glee, will appear in the premiere episode.
The Glee Project is produced by Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy, Glee executive producer Dante Di Loreto, and seasoned reality producers Michael Davies and Shauna Minoprio. The winner of the competition will be cast in a seven-episode arc on Glee.
When he spoke with THR in Murphy spoke with The Hollywood Reporter in January, he said he would have final say on who gets the guest spot. Murphy also admitted he was initially ambivalent toward the project.
"I went from not wanting to be involved to realizing I had to be involved because it's part of the brand," Murphy said.
Last week, Murphy told THR that contestants who do not win the guest spot on Glee might be placed in other roles in the industry.
The Glee Project premiers Sunday, June 12 on Oxygen.
