FX Picks Up Animated Comedy Series From 'It's Always Sunny' Team
Justin Long, Kristen Bell and David Hornsby are some of the members of the voice cast.
FX has picked up an animated comedy series from the team behind It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
Unsupervised (working title) is a comedy about optimistic best friends Gary and Joel, who navigate the harsh landscape of teenage life and trying to do what's right without any parental guidance.
The series is slated to premiere in January and will be paired with Archer for 13 episodes. The voice cast includes David Hornsby, Rob Rosell, Justin Long, Kristen Bell, Romany Malco, Kaitlin Olson and Alexa Vega.
“Having worked with David, Rob and Scott for many years on Sunny, it gives us great pleasure to see them make their own stamp on FX,” said Nick Grad, executive vice president of original series. “Unsupervised is a great addition to our comedy roster and, like all of our comedies, it’s smart and really funny.”
The series is created and executive produced by Hornsby, Rosell, Scott Marder, who all serve as writers/producers on It's Always Sunny.
The comedy is produced by FX Produtions, in association with RCG Productions and Floyd County. The series pickup marks the production company's first order as part of their overall deal with FX Prods. Archer executive producers Adam Reed and Matt Thompson will animate.
The announcement comes at a perfect time for It's Always Sunny and Archer, which return Thursday on FX.
