The producers of HBO's hit series Game of Thrones are sorry about Hodor, but not for the reason fans might instinctively think after last week's heartbreaking episode

On Tuesday, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to address what the Hodor development will undoubtedly mean for the everyday use of the phrase "hold the door."

While sitting on a couch surrounded by money, the two quipped that they had no problem killing off a character, but realized they may have done something far worse this time around.

"We're sorry for all the idiots who be will shouting 'Hodor' now every time you go through a door," Benioff said.

"We forgot how annoying people can be. That's our bad," Weiss added.

Their comments were spliced with footage of people yelling out "Hodor" much to the annoyance of those who had opened the door.
