'Game of Thrones'' Hodor Wants to Say More Than "Hodor!" in Season 6 (Video)
Game of Thrones fans uttered a dismayed "Hodor!" when learning that both Bran (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) and his lovable companion would be missing from season five of the HBO series.
The producers, juggling ever more complicated storylines, decided to sideline the Hodor/Bran storyline this year, and Hodor actor Kristian Nairn has been using his time off to pursue his DJ career.
He's also got a few ideas about where his character should go in season six.
His quick pitch: Hodor is secretly capable of more than he lets on and is "hiding his true abilities." If Nairn had his way, Hodor would do — and say — much more in season six.
"I would like him to sort of progress. Speak a bit. A few lines wouldn't go amiss," Nairn tells The Hollywood Reporter.
In season four, Nairn got to show off a more action-oriented side, when Bran used his Wog powers to take over Hodor and use his brute strength to kill the villainous Locke (Noah Taylor) at Craster's Keep. Viewers left Bran and Hodor after their most exciting episode yet, with them meeting the three-eyed raven in the season four finale.
But despite the more exciting role, Hodor has yet to say anything other than his own name.
"It's not too much for an actor to ask," Nairn jokes about his hopes for more dialogue. "I don't think it's going to happen, though. I'm not going to bet money on it."
