Iconic Producer Garry Marshall Sells Comedy to Fox
The executive producer behind TV classics including "Happy Days," Laverne & Shirley" and "Mork & Mindy" is developing a new family comedy with his son, Scott Marshall.
Garry Marshall could be returning to the small screen.
The producer-director behind the 1970s TV hits Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley and Mork & Mindy as well as feature films including New Year's Eve, Valentine's Day and Pretty Woman and has sold a family comedy to Fox, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
Marshall and his son, Scott Marshall, will write and executive produce Golden Guys, which has landed a script order at the network. From 20th Television and Prospect Park, the multicamera family comedy revolves around a down-on-his-luck guy who must move back in with his family after he loses his fortunes in a scam.
Prospect Park's Paul Frank, Jeff Kwatinetz and Josh Barry are also on board to produce.
As first reported by TV Guide, the project -- should it go to series -- would mark Marshall's first TV show since 1987's Nothing in Common.
Since starting out in TV, Marshall most recently has focused on features, directing Pretty Woman, Beaches and several other films. As an actor, Marshall appeared in two episodes of FX's Louie this season. He also played Georgia Peaches owner Walter Harvey in 1992's A League of Their Own, among other notable roles.
