Gaumont, NBC Team With Evolution for 'Hannibal' Merchandise
Soon, the "fannibals" of Bryan Fuller's NBC drama will be able to dress like, smell like and even decorate like Thomas Harris' famed serial killer.
There's no denying that NBC's Hannibal, which starts its second season later this week, is a stylish and compelling show that pushes at viewers' morality and blurs the line between good and evil -- but is it also a show that does the same for their personal aesthetic?
Gaumont International Television and NBCUniversal today announced that licensing and global brand management firm Evolution has been appointed as the international licensing agency for the NBC drama, with plans to launch a wide range of merchandise for the show -- including clothing, accessories, fragrances and even home furnishings and decor -- throughout North America and Europe.
"Part of the Hannibal allure is thanks to the haunting yet beautiful universe that Bryan Fuller and his team have created," Gaumont head of marketing Tim Farish said in a statement. "Evolution understands this universe well and will bring new products to our incredibly loyal and supportive 'fannibals' across all parts of the globe with this new licensing agreement."
"Hannibal is a sophisticated prequel to the Hannibal books, brought to life with artful writing, stylish direction and photography and a truly talented cast," Evolution's president of licensing and retail development Travis Rutherford said, going on to add that the company is "confident that we can deliver to them compelling and unique product in a multitude of categories in support of the upcoming new season."
Hannibal's second season starts at 10 p.m. ET/PT this Friday on NBC.
