Epix has renewed its latest original effort, giving a sophomore order to Get Shorty just a few weeks after its premiere.

The drama, based on the 1990 Elmore Leonard novel and 1995 Barry Sonnenfeld movie, stars Chris O'Dowd and Ray Romano. The show has gotten a warm reception from critics, with The Hollywood Reporter calling it an "improbable idea" with "great execution."

“Epix is proud to be the home of Get Shorty, which has been the perfect addition to our scripted original slate,” network president and CEO Mark Greenberg said Wednesday in a statement. “Get Shorty is our most successful original scripted series to date, and continues to deliver phenomenal performances. We are thrilled to be working again with MGM Television, Davey Holmes, Chris O’Dowd, Ray Romano and the Get Shorty team on a second season.”

Created for television by Davey Holmes (Shameless), Get Shorty's second season will consist of another 10 episodes and is set to air in 2018. The series is produced by MGM Television and distributed by MGM, which also owns the network.
