'Ghost Hunters' Investigator Grant Wilson Exiting Show (Video)
The star of Syfy's reality series co-founded the The Atlantic Paranormal Society in 1990.
On Wednesday’s episode, Grant Wilson, the co-lead investigator of Syfy’s Ghost Hunters, tearfully announced that he’ll be exiting the show.
Wilson and Jason Hawes, who have starred in the show for eight seasons, called the team together on Wednesday’s episode. “Eight years has put stress on us in various ways,” Wilson said to his team. “It’s been a very difficult decision to make, but I’m going to leave Ghost Hunters.” Wilson struggled to keep back tears while making the announcement.

“No one has done anything wrong to push me there, by any means,” he reassured his team.
Wilson and Hawes founded The Atlantic Paranormal Society in 1990. Wilson will wrap production in March, and his last episode will air Wednesday, May 16, at 9 p.m.
“It is with mixed emotion that I am announcing my departure from the cast of Ghost Hunters," said Wilson in a release from SyFy. "While paranormal investigating has always been and will remain a passion for me, after enjoying nearly eight successful seasons on television, I have made the decision to leave the series in order to focus on other aspects of my personal life."

Ghost Hunters premiered on SyFy on October 6, 2004. For eight seasons, the show has followed Wilson, Hawes and their teams as they investigated places that are reported to be haunted.
“We respect and support this difficult decision that Grant has made, and wish him all the best in his new endeavors,” said Mark Stern, president of Syfy original content. “The hard work, integrity, and compassion that he has consistently brought to his work won’t be easily replaced, but this successful series will find a way to reshape itself as it moves forward.”
