'Boy Meets World' Follow-Up Finds Riley's Best Friend
Thirteen-year-old Sabrina Carpenter has been cast opposite Rowan Blanchard in the Disney Channel update.
Disney Channel's Boy Meets World follow-up, Girl Meets World, has found Riley Matthews' best friend.
Thirteen-year-old actress Sabrina Carpenter has been cast as Maya Fox opposite 11-year-old Rowan Blanchard, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
The official description for Carpenter's character follows: "Maya is an only child and has never known her father, which makes her relationship with both Riley and Cory Matthews very important to her. She is a wonderful student of life and absolutely magnetic in attracting the people in her sphere. A little bit edgy, she is as fiercely loyal to Riley as Riley is to her."

Girl Meets World, executive produced by Michael Jacobs (Boy Meets World), follows Cory and Topanga as a happily married couple who are parents to their 13-year-old daughter, from whose point of view the story is told. Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel will reprise their roles from the ABC comedy Boy Meets World.
"All of the characters will have their feature stories and will be paid close attention to, so hopefully the audience will love the characters the way they loved the characters on Boy," Jacobs told THR. "You’re going to be seeing a lot of Riley Matthews, because she’s the point of view of this show, but what influences her are all of the characters in her life."
