Lena Dunham Book Bids Reach $3.7 Million
The "Girls" creator is expected to choose a publisher early next week for the hottest proposal of the fall.
Bidding on a proposed book of essays by Girls creator Lena Dunham has reached $3.7 million sources tell The Hollywood Reporter.
Five publishers are said to still be in the hunt for what has emerged as the hottest proposal of the year.
Dunham has been meeting with publishers this week to discuss the proposal.
The offer puts her close to the $5 million Tina Fey received in 2008 for Bossypants, which went on to sell more than one million copies after it was published in 2011.
A decision by Dunham is expected after the weekend.
Kim Witherspoon of Inkwell Management is repping the young auteur on the book deal. UTA handles her in other areas.
The proposal for Not That Kind of Girl: Advice by Lena Dunham imagines a book of essays on topics ranging from the first time she had sex to her interest in death to an awkward date with an unnamed older director.
