'Girls'' Lena Dunham, Jenni Konner Developing Betty Halbreich Project at HBO
The cable network has optioned "All Dressed Up and Nowhere to Go," the forthcoming memoir by the famed Bergdorf Goodman personal shopper.
Lena Dunham and Jenni Konner are double-dipping on HBO. The Girls executive producers and co-showrunners are teaming up for a new project based on the life of Bergdorf Goodman personal shopper Betty Halbreich.
A network rep confirms to The Hollywood Reporter that HBO has optioned Halbreich's upcoming memoir, All Dressed Up and Nowhere to Go, for a potential comedy series. Dunham and Konner are attached to pen the pilot.
The series would follow the life of the New York institution, who has dressed the rich and famous at the storied Manhattan department store since the 1970s. Halbreich, who has styled the likes of Meryl Streep, Sarah Jessica Parker and Katie Couric, was recently profiled in The New Yorker. Now 85, Halbreich continues to work at Bergdorf, having previously consulted on aesthetics for Woody Allen films and HBO's Sex and the City.
Girls, which saw relatively modest ratings at the launch of its sophomore season, remains one of HBO's most talked-about series. The series recently took home a Golden Globe for best comedy and best actress in a comedy for Dunham.
