'Girls' Parody 'Boys' Needles Lena Dunham's HBO Comedy (Video)
A few young filmmakers in Los Angeles added a Y chromosome to the Emmy-nominated series, pleasing even the show's executive producer.
It was lauded, then picked apart, and then finally nominated for multiple Emmys. Now, the Girls see-saw continues, with a pitch-perfect parody.
Made by L.A. filmmaker Peter Moses, the short "Boys" does the predictable: flips the story from girls to guys, giving its four characters the same sort of problems as Dunham's cast, but with a guy's edge. Though, there's really no perceptible difference: nagging virginity, tired relationships and the desire to not work more than 30 hours a week, because seriously, who does that?
There are also some silly digs at the charge of nepotism leveled against Dunham; the show is "directed" by Wolf Blitzer's fictitious son Bear (Allison Williams is the daughter of NBC news anchor Brian Williams) and Daniel Craig's fictional son, Craig Craig, plays the exotic English role handled by Jemima Kirke in Girls.
No hard feelings, though; executive producer Judd Apatow tweeted last week that "That made me laugh a few times. It got me."
