Giuliana Rancic On Her Double Mastectomy: 'It Was Hell' (Video)
The E! News co-host spoke to Matt Lauer Friday, two weeks after undergoing surgery, revealing she feels good now, but a week ago, the pain was "horrible."
Giuliana Rancic has been publicly open about her breast cancer diagnosis from the start, and after undergoing a double mastectomy, the E! News personality continued that trend, appearing on NBC's TODAY show just two weeks after the surgery.
"I feel great," Giuliana, who was joined by husband Bill Rancic, told TODAY host Matt Lauer, adding, "I've got to be honest. I feel great considering it has only been about two and a half weeks. But I still have a ways to go as far as the recovery."
But, that's not to say it's all been smooth sailing.
"It was definitely hard," she said of the procedure. "I knew this was going to be a tough surgery. I in no way want to minimize it. Yes, I'm two and a half weeks out, (but) my gosh ... Up until a week and a half ago, it was hell. It was horrible."
The recovery has been made more difficult because she had a negative reaction to the painkillers being administered.
"I went into surgery at 4 p.m. and got out around 9:30 p.m. and by 4 a.m., I had to get off the morphine because I was so sick and I thought to myself, '[if I threw up] you have to engage all of your chest muscles and I just had my chest operated on'" Giuliana, who also appears on the Style Network show, Giuliana & Bill, revealed.
