'Glee': Chris Colfer, Darren Criss Reveal Audition Secrets in BIO Channel Special (Exclusive Video)

BIO Channel goes inside Glee on April 10, revealing that Chris Colfer and Darren Criss both auditioned for roles other than Kurt and Blaine.

Glee: Don't Stop Believing features interviews with cast members including Matthew Morrison, Jane Lynch, Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Jayma Mays, Colfer, Dianna Agron, Jenna Ushkowitz, Criss and Mike O'Malley and includes never-before-told stories from its conceptual beginning through the casting process, including behind-the-scenes footage.

Among the stories included in the hourlong special, Colfer reveals that he initially auditioned for Artie with Glee's Robert Ulrich recognizing something special in the then-17-year-old. The casting director took ultimately brought Colfer in to meet Ryan Murphy and audition for an Indian student named Rajesh who was featured in the original Glee pilot script.

"Rajesh died a long time ago," Colfer laughs in a clip exclusive to The Hollywood Reporter, recalling his initial meeting with Murphy when the Glee co-creator asked if he'd ever been in The Sound of Music.

"I have von Trapp written all over me," Colfer tells producers during his audition. Turns out Colfer's original Glee contract listed his role as "Artie 2" since the Kurt character had yet to be officially added.

Criss, meanwhile, reveals in the clip below that he originally went out to play Finn and notes that he would have never cast himself to play the lovable jock. Ulrich, however, remembered the A Very Potter Musical actor when it came time to cast Kurt's love interest, Blaine, and brought Criss in to audition on a Friday. He started work the following Monday.
