'Glee's' Lea Michele 'Grieving Alongside' Cory Monteith's Family
A representative for the actress says the "Glee" actress, who had been dating her co-star for more than a year, is receiving support from his family.
Glee star Lea Michele is receiving support from the family of her late boyfriend, representatives for the actress said in a statement Tuesday.
"Lea is deeply grateful for all the love and support she’s received from family, friends, and fans," her reps said. "Since Cory's passing, Lea has been grieving alongside his family and making appropriate arrangements with them. They are supporting each other as they endure this profound loss together. We continue to ask the media to respect the privacy of Lea and Cory’s family."
Michele, who plays Rachel Berry on the Fox musical, had been dating Monteith -- her on-screen love interest as well -- for more than a year. The young actress regularly compared the beloved Glee couple to Friends' Ross and Rachel, expressing optimism that the duo would ultimately wind up together.
"You know how television shows are when you think about these characters -- Ross and Rachel, [Felicity's] Ben and Felicity -- they pull them together and pull them apart, it's what makes it exciting but also realistic because they're young, and as much as I think that they love each other, this is what happens in young relationships," the actress told The Hollywood Reporter in June 2012, ahead of the recently concluded fourth season of Glee.
Monteith was found dead in his Vancouver hotel room Saturday. He was 31. An autopsy revealed he died of "mixed drug toxicity, involving heroin and alcohol."
